The passing away of George Flood, Founder of Key Home Management, due to metastatic melanoma was a tragic loss to the company. His vision remains with us, and that includes early detection and finding a cure for melanoma or any type of cancer. As with other cancers, metastases occur when the melanoma is not caught in the early stages. Often, symptoms only become present once it is has already spread. Once melanoma has spread, the prognoses is poor and the few effective treatments now available may only prolong life or ease symptoms. As of today, there is no cure for Stage IV melanoma. Early detection is crucial.
Key Home Sales & Management intends to take an active role in promoting early detection and support efforts to find a cure. We continue to support the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF), and other cancer charity organizations. MRF is committed to the funding of medical research in finding effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma. The MRF also educates patients, caregivers and physicians about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma.
Helping children in need and victims of domestic violence is something close to our hearts as well, and we strive year round to provide financial support to local shelters or counseling service organizations. We recently partnered with Bethany House of Northern Virginia. Bethany House provides emergency shelter and supportive services to victims of domestic violence throughout Northern Virginia and the surrounding DC metro communities. Their vision is to eliminate domestic violence one family at a time.
Every Christmas season, more than at any other time, our hearts go out to others. We select charitable organizations that could really use some help during the Christmas season. But there are always those who are less fortunate than we are and will appreciate our help all year round. We encourage each of you to give what you can regularly to the charities that make a difference to your local and national community. Key Home will also be happy to donate to a charity of your choice. You may be surprised at the benefits you reap!
As successful members of the community, we have a responsibility to help those that are less fortunate and contribute to the common good.
