Northern Virginia Weekend Events - October 19

Here’s a look at what’s happening throughout our area this weekend. If you still need something to do, take a look at our Fall Fun post for a list of ongoing Fall Festivals and orchards.

Fridays at the Fountain is Crystal City’s seasonal pop-up beer garden that features live music from local bands and musicians. Admission is free, and food and drink are available for purchase. Fridays at the Fountain are every Friday from 5 to 9 pm at the Crystal City Water Park. This week’s performer is Dante Pope.

The Middleburg Film Festival runs all weekend at various venues throughout Middleburg. Enjoy watching a variety of movies followed by a Q&A with filmmakers, actors, and other special guests. Check the festival website for show times and tickets.

It’s Fall Harvest Family Days this weekend at George Washington’s Mt. Vernon Estate. Enjoy a day 18th century activities while touring the estate. This event is included with the cost of admission.

The annual Air and Scare is this Saturday at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly from 12 to 5:30 pm. Kids get to trick-or-treat while doing crafts, experiments, and meeting some of their favorite characters. This is a free event, but there is a $15 fee for parking.

The Fall Heritage Festival is this Saturday at the Gulf Brach Nature Center & Park in Arlington from 1 to 5 pm. Enjoy an afternoon of family fun while stepping back into the past with old time games and crafts. There is a $5 program fee for this event.

Sunday’s free Book Talk at the Manassas Museum will feature authors Rob Orrison and Kevin Pawlak who will discuss their book To Hazard All: A guide to the Maryland Campaign, 1862. The talk will begin at 1:30 pm.
