September 9 Weekend Events

Here's a look at what's happening in our area this weekend. If you are a music lover, there are a bunch of festivals featuring live performances throughout the region! The annual ChalkFest is happening at the Reston Town Center on Friday and Saturday. Everyone from kids to professional artists are invited to create chalk drawings along Market Street. Prizes will be awarded to the various categories of skill levels. Registration is required to reserve your square. Sample award winning craft beer, taste some of Northern Virginia’s best barbeque while listening to live music at the 6th Annual Bands, Brews & Barbeque in Historic Manassas. The festival runs from 12-6pm. A free Cornhole Tournament begins at 1pm. Tickets for the festival are $35 for tasters and $10 for designated drivers. The Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton is hosting a Fine Arts Festival this weekend. The festival will run Saturday and Sunday and feature original art from over 150 artists. In addition to the great art that will be on display, there will be live music and food vendors. Admission and parking is free. The Rosslyn Jazz Fest is happening at Gateway Park on Saturday from 1-7pm. Enjoy live performances of some of the biggest names in jazz and world music today. Several bar areas will be serving beer and wine in addition to the areas favorite local food trucks available for food purchases. On Saturday starting at 10am, the Lee-Fendall House is offering a “Beyond the Battlefield” guided walking tour of Civil War sites in Old Town Alexandria. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 on site. On Sunday from 12-7pm Samuel Beckett's Irish Pub in Shirlington is hosting the Beckett's 4th Annual Celtic Festival. This free festival features live music, dancers, pipers, food and beverages.
