Thank you to all who serve and who have served! In honor of Veteran’s Day, many national chains are offering  free and discounted meals to veterans and active duty military on Monday. Fairfax County is offering free admission to any of the county’s RECenters to veterans, active duty military personnel and their families. The National Park Service is having a Free Park Day, and anybody may enter any National Park free of charge! Here’s a look at what else is happening throughout the region this weekend.

Saturday is Revolutionary War Day at George Mason’s Gunston Hall in Mason Neck. This is a family-oriented program offers a wide range of activities for all ages. This event runs from 10 am to 4 pm. The cost is $10 per adult, $8 for students 6 and older.

It’s Second Saturday Art Walk at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton. Enjoy extended hours and featured exhibits every second Saturday of the month. This free event runs from 6 to 9 pm. 

Learn about Virginia’s murder trial of the century with author D.N. Wilson who will discuss his new book, Cluverius V. The Commonwealth: Virginia’s Murder Trial of the Century at Lee-Fendall House this Saturday at 7 pm. A book signing and refreshments will follow the discussion. Tickets are $5.

On Sunday Lee-Fendall House will open parts of the house not normally open to the public during the Under the Same Roof: Enslaved and Free Servants at the Lee-Fendall House tour. The tour starts at 2 pm. Tickets are $10 and advance purchase is recommended.

The Mclean Antiques Show & Sale is this Saturday and Sunday at the Mclean Community Center. Admission is $10 and is good for both days. 

The Northern VA Christmas Market is returning to the Dulles Expo Center this weekend. Running Friday through Sunday, this craft show features over 250 artisans with a wide variety of fine arts, pottery, jewelry, collectables, and more. Admission is $8 for adults, 12 and under are free. Bring a non-perishable food item for the Capital Area Food Bank and receive $1 of admission.

Sunday is Mill-itary Appreciation Day at Colvin Run Mill. Chesapeake Independent Blues and Ship’s Company will be on site to discuss the lives of the militia and navy during the War of 1812. This event is free for active and retired military members with ID. For all others, the cost is $8 for adults, $7 for students age 16 and older, and $6 for children and seniors. 

Gadsby’s Tavern in Old Town Alexandria is offering free tours this Sunday in remembrance of the efforts of the American Legion Post #24 who saved the museum from destruction.
