Northern Virginia Fourth of July Fireworks

System - Friday, June 26, 2015
Going downtown to the National Mall and seeing the amazing Fourth of July fireworks display is an experience that you’ll never forget, but if going downtown is not part of your plans, there are tons of spots in Northern Virginia where you can go to see fireworks this coming Fourth of July holiday. If you want to see the DC fireworks, but don’t want to venture downtown, Gravelly Point, located off the GW Parkway in Arlington, is an excellent alternative. You can pack a picnic and watch the planes taking off and landing at National Airport while waiting for the fireworks to begin. If you’re looking for something closer to home, here is a list of the various venues that will have fireworks on the Fourth. Lake Fairfax Park in Reston will have live music from 4-8 with an evening fireworks display. Go early and cool off in the Water Mine water park. Entry to the park and water park is free. The Great Falls Village Centre is having a Fourth of July Hometown Celebration with a 5K Run/Walk, parades, music, games, festivities, and fireworks at dusk. George Washington’s Mount Vernon will be hosting its annual American Celebration with an inspirational naturalization ceremony for 100 new citizens, daytime fireworks, military reenactments, a special wreath laying ceremony, free birthday cake for all (while supplies last), and a visit from the “first” first couple, “General and Mrs. Washington.” Enjoy a performance by the National Concert Band's during its "Red, White and Blue" concert. The American Celebration events are included with estate admission. The City of Fairfax will have live music and fireworks at Fairfax High School . The City of Fairfax Band will start their performance at 7pm. Admission is free. The Town of Herndon will have a family-fun event starting at 7pm featuring games, patriotic arts & craft activities, family games, bingo, food, balloon artists and live music. Fireworks will begin around 9:30. Mclean’s fireworks display will be held at Cooper Middle School. Grounds open at 8 and admission is free. The City of Falls Church will sponsor its annual July 4th Independence Day Celebration at George Mason High School. Live music starts at 7 p.m. and the fireworks begin at 9:20 p.m. This is a free event. Celebrate America in Old Town Manassas takes place around the Historic Downtown train depot, the Harris Pavilion and the Manassas Museum. There will be great rides for the kids starting at 3 p.m. The rest of the fun, including food concessions and novelty vendors will begin at 4 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:15. This is a free event. Remember to check the websites before venturing out to make sure details haven’t changed. Have a happy and safe Fourth of July!
