The sun has finally decided to show itself just in time for the pools to open this weekend. If you need a break from the pool, there are many events happening in our area to both celebrate the start of summer and to honor our fallen heroes. Whatever you decide to do, have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend! Viva! Vienna, historic Vienna, VA – Saturday 10am-10pm, Sunday 10am-6pm and Monday 10am-6pm. Viva! Vienna is a weekend full of family friendly activities. There will be tons of live entertainment, carnival rides, food, and retail vendors. 100% of the proceeds go to the Rotary Club of Vienna for charitable, educational and community groups. Admission is free! A Star-Spangled Sing-Along and Care Packages for the Troops Drive, Reston Town Center Pavilion – Saturday 2pm. Start your Memorial Day weekend with The Reston Chorale a Star-Spangled Sing-Along to honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Thank the men and women currently serving by making thank-you cards and filling care packages to send overseas. See website for suggested donation items. The 18th Annual Ride of the Patriots – Sunday starting at 9am.  A police escorted motorcycle ride to the Pentagon to participate in Rolling Thunder's Ride for Freedom. See website for details and route. Memorial Day Ceremony, Captain Rocky Versace Plaza in Alexandria, VA – Monday 11am. This ceremony will honor both the 67 Alexandrians who were KIA/MIA during the Vietnam War and all our nation's fallen heroes. 39th Annual Jazz Festival, Alexandria, VA – Monday 1pm-6pm. Bring a blanket or chairs and celebrate Memorial Day listening to live jazz performances. Food and beverages will be available for sale. This is a free event! National Memorial Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA – Monday 10:30am-12:30pm. A wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier will be held at 11am, followed by observance program hosted by the Department of Defense in ANC's Memorial Amphitheater.
