Here’s a look at what’s happening throughout the area this weekend.

Celebrate Irish tradition at the annual Greater Manassas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade this Saturday from 11 am to 12 pm along Center St. in Historic Downtown Manassas. Several pipe bands, Irish dance groups and more will be participating.

Meet featured artists and enjoy unique presentations during extended hours at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton during  Second Saturday Art Walk. This free event runs from 6 pm to 9 pm. 

Gadsby’s Tavern Museum in Old Town Alexandria is offering a Specialty Tour: The Feminine Side of the Tavern. Participants will learn about the many roles women played in tavern life during the 18th century. This event will reoccur every Saturday from 10 am to 11 am during the month of March. The cost is $15 and advance ticket purchase is recommended.

Learn about the women of Lee-Fendall House this Saturday at 2 pm. Beginning with the life of Mary Lee Fendall the tour will cover the experiences of the women who lived in Lee-Fendall House ending with the story of the women who saved the house from development in the 1970s. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Meet Alexandria residents from the past the 2nd Sunday of every month at Facetime with History at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum in Old Town Alexandria. This Sunday museum guests will meet Hannah Fairfax Washington and her sister-in-law Jane Fairfax who will discuss early life in Alexandria. This event runs from 1 pm to 4 pm and is included with general admission to the museum.

The 56th Annual Woodlawn Needlework Show and Sale runs through the entire month of March. The show is open from 10 am to 4 pm every day except Tuesdays. Visit the website to buy tickets in advance and to view the special events that will take place throughout the month.
