Happy President’s Day Weekend!

Here’s a look at some events that are happening in our area this weekend.

Celebrate the birthday of our first president at his home this weekend. There will be special events at Mt. Vernon estate throughout the weekend, including free admission on Monday!

The 15th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration is Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm at Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax. There will be music and dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, kid’s activities, and more.

The Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton is featuring it’s Cabaret Series this weekend with performances Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 1pm. Tickets are $20-$25 and reservation are strongly recommended.

Fort Ward Museum & Historic Site will have a historic camp and tactical demonstrations all day on Sunday, including a reenacted skirmish between the Redcoats and Colonial Army at 2pm. This is a free event.

The Annual George Washington Parade will begin at 1pm Monday in Old Town Alexandria. The parade will start at the intersection of Fairfax and Gibbon. It will head north to Queen and then turn and go South on Royal, ending at the intersection of Wilkes and Royal.

The Washington National’s Presidents will be at Market Common in Clarendon this Sunday from 12:30-3:30pm. Cheer for your favorite when they race around The Loop at 3pm.

Sunday’s Free Book Talk at the Manassas Museum will feature author Paula Tarnapol Whitacre who will discuss her book "A Civil Life in an Uncivil Time - Julia Wilbur's Struggle for Purpose." The free discussion will begin at 1:30 pm.
