System - Thursday, February 8, 2018

Here’s a look at what’s happening in our area this weekend:

Valentine’s Day is on Wednesday so it’s a great time to check out Virginia’s LOVEworks (https://www.virginia.org/love) . These unique giant LOVE art installations make a great photo-op. The ones closest to us are in Occoquan, Manassas, and Leesburg.

The 2018 Chocolate Walk (http://www.historicoccoquan.com/) is this Saturday from 11am to 4pm in Occoquan. Enjoy free chocolate treats at participating retailers while you shop.

It’s Second Saturday Art Walk (http://www.workhousearts.org/event/second-saturday-art-walk-13/) at the Workhouse Arts Center from 6 to 9pm in Occoquan. Meet featured artists and exhibits during extended hours every second Saturday of the month.

Celebrate the Frederick Douglas Bicentennial at the Lucasville School (http://www.pwcgov.org/government/dept/publicworks/hp/Pages/Lucasville-School.aspx) in Manassas this Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Each family will receive a special addition copy of the Narrative and the Life of Frederick Douglass while supplies last. This is a free event, but donations are encouraged.

This is the last weekend to sample and vote for your favorite cherry themed item in the Cherry Challenge (http://washingtonbirthday.com/cherry-challenge/) . To kick-off George Washington’s birthday celebration, participating restaurants have developed a cherry themed cocktail, appetizer, entrée, and/or dessert. Guest will be given instructions on how to vote. The winner will be announced on Parade Day.
