Here’s a look at what’s happening in our area this weekend.
Happy
100th birthday to the National Park Service! To celebrate, entrance to all national parks is free this weekend! Take advantage by viewing Great Falls, driving along the Skyline or visit any of the numerous other national parks that make fantastic day trips!
It’s
Civil War Weekend at the Manassas Museum. Relive the Civil War era by watching a debate performed by interpreters portraying Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis, watch a Civil War era dance, listen to period music, and witness army drills and artillery firings. In addition, there will be talks by local historians, a scavenger hunt for kids, walking tours, bourbon tastings, and much more! This is a weekend long event. Museum hours are 10-5 and admission is free.
On Saturday the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center will host the
Smithsonian Techquest Flying Circus. This is a free alternate reality game where participants are challenged to design a plane that will be able to perform aerobatic maneuvers. The Flying Circus hours are 10:30-4. Admission to the museum is free, but parking is $15.
The
Tysons Biergarten is a hosting its first American craft beer festival. 50+ American craft beers will be available for tasting, along with live music, contest, kids activities and food trucks. This is a dog friendly event! The festival will run Saturday and Sunday from 1-6pm. Tickets are $20 for one day or $30 for 2 day general admission.
This is the last week to drive out to Haymarket’s
Burnside Farms to pick your own sunflowers. Because the season is winding down, admission has been reduced to $4 per person, with under 2 being free. Admission includes many kid’s activities in addition to the sunflower fields.
