Here is a look at some of the events happening in our area this weekend. Springfest Fairfax 2016 – Workhouse Arts Center, Lorton, VA, Saturday 4/30/16 10am – 4pm. Springfest is a free family friendly event that celebrates both Earth Day and Arbor Day. There will be games, activities, a bounce house, pony rides, farm animals, and more. This year features FCPA Healthy Strides Expo with workshops, vendors and activities to promote healthy living. Touch-A-Truck – Lake Braddock Secondary School, Burke, VA, Saturday 4/30/16 10am – 2pm. Does your little one love big trucks? Touch-A-Truck lets kids get an up close look at fire trucks, construction vehicles and more. They can touch, climb and sit in the driver seats of their favorite trucks! Tickets are $5 per person, under 2 are free. "Creatures from the Sea" art exhibit – Del Ray Artisans, Alexandria, VA – This is the last weekend to view the "Creatures from the Sea" art exhibit which features everything from realistic to imaginative interpretations of sea life, ranging from magical human/aquatic hybrids to Sirens, Tritons, Naiads, and their fellow aquatic travelers from oceans, rivers, and lakes. This is a free exhibit. Revolutionary War Weekend – George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate, Alexandria, VA, Saturday 4/30/16 – Sunday 5/1/16 9am – 5pm. Revolutionary War Weekend at Mount Vernon is a two-day event that will be one of the largest Revolutionary War re-enactments of the year. Over 700 Continentals, Redcoats, Hessians, cannon, and cavalry can be seen in action on the estate. Other Revolutionary War themed activities will also be available throughout the weekend. Cost is included with price of admission to the estate. 7th Annual Move Me Festival - Kenmore Middle School, Arlington, VA, Saturday 4/30/16 1pm – 5pm.  This free family event features arts and crafts, theatre games, singing, storytelling, world dance, yoga, Pilates, and more. Admission is free but bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Arlington Food Assistance Center. Book Talk: The Maps of the Wilderness; an Atlas of the Wilderness Campaign, May 2-7, 1864, The Manassas Museum, Manassas, VA, Sunday 5/1/16 1:30pm – 2:30pm. Author Bradley M. Gottfied will discuss his fifth book in the Sava Beatie Military Atlas Series.
