In honor of Veterans Day, all
Fairfax County Rec Centers are offering free admission to veterans and their families all day on Friday. The
National Park Service is also offering free national park admission to all visitors on Friday.
Arlington National Cemetery will have a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns at 11am followed by a parade of colors inside the Memorial Amphitheater.
Gadsby’s Tavern Museum in Old Town Alexandria is offering free tours on Friday in honor of American Legion Post #24’s efforts to save it from destruction in the 1920s.
The
Art League in Alexandria will unveil Andy Yoder’s 25 foot banner titled “Highest Honor" on Friday from 6:30 to 8pm. Created from sheets of handmade paper, the banner is an oversized version of the Army-Navy “E Award,” which was presented to companies during World War II for excellence in the production of war equipment.
The
Workhouse Arts Center in Occoquan will have a special Veteran’s Day themed Second Saturday Art Walk.
Rippon Lodge in Prince William County is hosting a special event to highlight its early history. Living history demonstrations of Native American culture, colonial life and military encampments will be available all day.
The Icelandic Association of Washington, DC is hosting an
Icelandic Christmas Bazaar on Saturday from 10am to 3pm in Fairfax. Enjoy live music and Icelandic cuisine while shopping for unique crafts and wares.
