Northern Virginia is getting ready for the holidays this weekend. Here’s a look at what’s happening throughout our area.
Leesburg’s annual
Christmas tree and Menorah lighting is Friday at 6pm on the Town Green. Local schools will perform and there will be a holiday sing-a-long.
Old Town Manassas kicks off the holiday season with their
Merry Old Town Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday evening from 5 to 8pm. This event features holiday music and a visit from Santa who will arrive on the VRE train. The fun continues on Saturday with the 71
st Greater Manassas Christmas Parade from 10am to 12pm that will run through the Historic Downtown.
Rippon Lodge Historic Centre in Woodbridge is celebrating the Holidays through the Ages this weekend. Stroll through holidays past by viewing decorations from various time periods with a special dedication to the 75
th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. There will also be live music, crafts and refreshments. Tickets are $5 with children under 6 free.
The City of Fairfax is hosting its annual
Festival of Lights and Carols on Saturday. The festivities start with Lunch with Santa. Holiday music and treats will be available at Old Town Square from 12 to 7pm with the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30pm. Pre-Registration is required for the Lunch with Santa event.
It’s a full day of celebrating in Old Town Alexandria on Saturday. Kick off the day at
The Scottish Christmas Walk. Enjoy Scottish bagpipes and drums, dancers, Santa Claus and much more. The parade begins at 11am at St. Asaph and ends at Market Square. The Torpedo Factory is hosting its annual
Holiday Festival from 2 to 6pm on Saturday. The artists will have sweet treats available in their studios while you shop for handmade jewelry, ornaments and other art. There will be a children’s scavenger hunt and live entertainment. Finish the day with 17
th Annual Holiday Boat Parade of Lights. This local favorite starts at 5:30 on Saturday in Alexandria’s harbor. The decorated boats will cruise the Potomac River.
