Happy April! Here’s a look at what’s happening in our area this weekend.
The Annual Kite Festival at Gunston Hall is Saturday from 10am to 4pm. In addition to kite flying, there will be children’s activities and crafts as well as guided tours. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 kids 6-18. Kites will be available for purchase at the museum gift shop.
The 13th Annual Rum Punch Challenge is happening at Gadsby’s Tavern in Old Town Alexandria Saturday evening from 7-9:30pm. Sample different rum punch creations from local distilleries and vote for your favorite. There will also be period and modern food available. Tickets are $50 per person, which includes admission, food and drinks. $100 includes admission and a pre-event VIP Barcardi tasting. Reservations are required.
If you’re a fan of architecture, there’s an Architectural Tour in Historic Downtown Manassas on Saturday starting at 2pm. Learn about architect Albert Speiden, visit the homes and businesses he designed and get a look at this original century old sketches. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at Echoes, the Manassas Museum Store.
The Manassas Museum is hosting its free Book Talk this Sunday from 1:30 to 2:30pm. This session features author Michael J. McCarthy who will discuss his book “Confederate Waterloo.”
